How many trophies will there be?

This question comes up all the time. I will try to explain how it works, then provide a chart that summarizes the procedure.

  1. Single entrant classes will cause the entrant to be bumped to the next higher class, as described in Appendix B, pg 220, in the 2002 Solo II Rulebook.

  2. Classes with more than one entrant will award trophies using the following technique. A trophy for 1st Place will always be awarded. Additional trophies will be awarded at the rate of 1 trophy for every 3 entrants in the class, with any fractions rounded down. See the chart, below (note that this is the same as the standard trophy awarding rules from the 2002 Solo II Rulebook):

Number of Trophies for a Given Number of Class Entrants
Number of Entrants Number of Trophies
1 None (entrant is bumped)
2 1 (1st)
3 1 (1st)
4 2 (1st, 2nd)
5 2 (1st, 2nd)
6 2 (1st, 2nd)
7 3 (1st, 2nd, 3rd)
8 3 (1st, 2nd, 3rd)
9 3 (1st, 2nd, 3rd)
10+ 4 (1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and beyond)
